How do I add a star rating in Engine OS?
Tracks can be quickly rated from your local collection or History list using the Track Info screen.
To access the Track Info screen:
- In Library View, press and hold a track
- In Performance View, tap the track artwork
Once the Track Info screen is open, use the browse encoder to scroll through your track list and adjust the star rating as needed.
Will Engine DJ import my star ratings from Serato 4.0?
Serato 4.0 introduced a new Track Rating system that uses emojis to sort and organize music. While this is a great addition for Serato users, Engine DJ does not currently support importing Track Rating data from Serato.
We recognize how important track ratings are for library organization and workflow, and we are actively considering support for Serato Track Ratings in a future Engine DJ update.
Will my Star Rating changes be written to my track metadata (ID3 tags)?
At this time, Engine DJ stores Star Rating information within its internal database and does not write these ratings back to the audio file’s metadata (ID3 tags).
Will my star ratings added on the device be synced back to my collection?
Star ratings created on Engine OS hardware are saved to the source drive currently in use. To sync these ratings back to your main Engine DJ collection on your computer, connect that source drive to Engine DJ.
Connected drives will appear in the Drives pane. From there, select Sync to Engine DJ to transfer performance data and metadata changes—including star ratings—back to your main collection.
Alternatively, you can open Sync Manager and select Sync to Engine DJ.
Known Limitations
When using Engine Remote Library as the source, star ratings applied on Engine OS to a loaded track will not be written back to the Engine DJ collection on the computer.
